Michael Jennings

Michael Jennings was born in 1978. He began his musical education as a chorister at Westminster Abbey. Having been a music scholar at Uppingham school he went on to read music at Edinburgh University, where he studied composition with Marina Adamia and Nigel Osborne.

He has had works performed by Liverpool Cathedral choir, the choir of the Chapel Royal, St. Denis Brass Band and the Soho String Quartet. In 2004 Michael was invited to write a piece for the Royal Maundy Thursday service at Liverpool Cathedral. Recent commissions include a collaboration with the sound artist Janek Schaefer for his installation Extended Play for the Huddersfield Contemporary Music Festival 2007.

A versatile musician he is comfortable working in different musical styles. He has worked with artists such as Massive Attack, Terry Callier and Andrea Corr as a writer, arranger and conductor. He also writes music for films and animations.
